We should get prepared before we set sail. Let's go explore the Imperial City port first.

This is the Imperial city port's, there are some shops at the market place where you can buy weapons, ship upgrades or even order a new ship when you can afford it.

A new weapon is automatically installed on your ship if it has enough free weapon slots and capacity. Otherwise it will be placed in your hangar for you to equip at a later time.
Secondary cannons are weigh less than main cannons by are shorter range. While missile weapons have longer range but lower damage than main cannons. You may also want to check out the ship upgrade shop, Empire Parts, for some useful parts for your ship.
We're now ready to set sail!
As a new player you should spend most of your turns exploring. You will not be able to attack other players (nor will they be able to attack you) while your character level is 5 or less.
You can spend any number of action points (APs) exploring, but you never know what might happen when exploring so it's better not to spend all your APs at one go. Let's spend 50 APs on exploring.
While exploring you might encounter enemies. The beginning enemies are weak enough that you should be able to defeat them easily with the 2 steam cannons that you have on your ship.
During battle the weapons you have equipped will fire automatically once they are within range of the opponent. You gain gold and experience fighting battles whether against other players or enemies you encounter while exploring.
If your ship was damaged in battle or during exploration, you'll have to get it repaired at your Hangar.
This is the hangar; you can repair your ship using AP (recommended) or using gold. If you ship is "sunk" (reduced to 0 hp) you can salvage it here for 10APs. You can also change the weapons and equipment on your ship here. You can sell items directly from the hangar or auction them on the black market after you have unequipped them.

Congratulations! You now know the basics for BattleStations!
